AiguaNatura dels Ports is a centre for sustainable aquaculture and environmental education in the Vall del Toscar, Catalonia. Its nature-based activities help schools, families and visitors explore water, biodiversity and responsible use of natural resources.

A working system in nine days

In 2021, Aquaponics Costa del Sol designed and installed a fully functioning aquaponic system at AiguaNatura in just nine days. We worked with materials already available on site, adding new components and reusing or sourcing additional materials locally. This practical approach brought fish tanks, water circulation and plant-growing areas together in an installation adapted to the available space.

A living classroom

The result is a living demonstration of how fish, plants and beneficial bacteria work together. It gives educators a practical way to introduce aquaponics, water reuse and circular thinking, helping visitors explore more sustainable ways of producing food.
