Year 10 STEM Design at SIS
From observation to a working system

Year 10 STEM Design at SIS
A hands-on STEM Design project brought aquaponics into the classroom for Year 10 students at Sotogrande International School, in collaboration with La Huerta del Lugá and Aquaponics United. The students began by visiting our installations, where they explored three working systems and examined the components, materials, equipment and design choices behind them.
We then worked alongside the students at SIS to build a DD JENNY aquaponic system. During a second school visit, we commissioned the installation and left it operating with fish and plants. From observing real systems to assembling one themselves, the students connected science, sustainability and practical design through a working resource for continued STEM learning.
